Yamuna - a holy river ... would it be same again

Yamuna the holy river in Delhi , has not only accpeted the prayers of so many devotees but also millions of litres of sewage and industrial effluents. The condition is so bad that without the sewage (entering into the river in Delhi) the river will be too short of water into it. The BOD and fecal coliform levels are very high and none of the measures have resulted in any benefits. What are the possible innovative solutions we can think to bring back the sacred river to its original real 'HOLY' status....

  1. I think individuals can play a major role to make the river clean..but govt also needs to take strong actions..mere action plans (YAP-1,2...3 upcoming) can't work..plans need to be implimented very strongly...

  3. Some of the NGOs are indeed doing a good job in this direction. School students can be roped in for awareness and contribution. Unless there is an awareness in the society, govt plans will not be effective.
